Welcome!

This site is devoted to photographs of John Underwood's collection of United States political memorabilia. The photographs, taken by Palm Springs photographer Stuart Lynn, are not intended as a documentary record of individual items in the collection, but rather as photographic statements about selected groupings of objects in the collection.

John Underwood has been collecting political memorabilia for about 40 years, initially inspired by work that he accomplished while working on Richard Nixon's campaign. Although he has since converted to a Democrat and supported Democratic candidates, he has acquired objects for his collection regardless of party association. There are over 2,500 objects now in his collection.

The images have been divided into six major subcollections:The Early Years - FDR to LBJ; The Nixon Years; The Later Years - Ford to Bush Jr.; The Kerry Campaign; Presidential Medals; and Miscellaneous

This site is continuously under construction and will be augmented from time to time with newer items in the collection, paritcularly those spanning the years leading to the election of President Obama.
